Client type: NHS trust
Type of work: Editing, writing and project support
Dates: Ongoing client since November 2025
What I do:
I am part of a team of freelancers supporting Imperial’s internal comms team with a programme of work to improve patient communication. We are working with clinical departments, editing and writing patient-facing materials to streamline and improve the patient experience. This includes leaflets, website text and the information that goes out with appointment letters. Services I’ve worked with so far include sleep, ophthalmology and endoscopy.
Rachel Watson, associate director of user insight and user experience design, said:
“Lisa has been a valuable part of our patient communication programme at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Lisa consistently produces high-quality content at pace, turning complex information into clear, straightforward and accessible communications for patients. Her work across leaflets, web copy and appointment information is helping us make patient communications more accurate, useful and easier to understand. It’s been a pleasure working collaboratively with Lisa. She brings fresh ideas, a strong understanding of plain English and patient information, and a proactive approach that has helped keep our programme moving forward. We would be very happy to continue working with Lisa. Highly recommend.”
Client: Cappfinity

Type of work: Proofreading
Dates: Regular client since September 2019
What I do:
I proofread various assessment materials produced by Cappfinity for their corporate clients. These are often established financial, legal or retail businesses who are recruiting or developing their early-career professionals. Content includes online candidate assessments, group exercises and skills-based interviews scripts. I feed back to their account managers and consultant psychologists to help them create products that are accurate, user friendly and in line with the client’s tone of voice.
Claire Marr, senior account manager, said:
“Lisa consistently provides a thorough and thoughtful proofreading review across a broad range of our content. Her keen eye for detail, constructive feedback and understanding of both client tone of voice and user experience make her a valued extension of our team. We greatly appreciate her reliability and professionalism.”

What I do:
I write online guides to help patients who are considering a private hospital for their treatment. I have written guides on subjects including gallbladder surgery, intravenous drug therapy, lipoedema and maternity care. My guides are subject to clinical review by PHIN before publication.
Alistair Moses, communications manager, said:
“Lisa is a valued extension of our small comms team. She helps ensure we have regular content updates by writing accessible and clear guides on a variety of healthcare topics for our website. We have these reviewed, but rarely if ever have to make any changes. Would definitely recommend Lisa if you’re looking for support.”
Client: The Migraine Trust
Client type: Charity
Type of work: Writing
Dates: July 2026
What I did:
I wrote two short guides for employers, summarising The Migraine Trust’s extensive library of information about migraine in the workplace. One was focused on women and migraine and the other looked at the wider support and adaptations that employers should be putting in place.
Olivia Wakeman, information manager, said:
“It was a pleasure to collaborate with Lisa on some new patient information handouts we created relating to migraine and the workplace. Lisa quickly got to grips with our existing information and the project brief, needing minimal direction after our initial meeting. She was highly professional, met deadlines with ease and produced engaging, high-quality writing. We’d love to work with Lisa again in the future.”
Client: Aplastic Anaemia Trust
Client type: Charity
Type of work: Writing, editing and proofreading
Dates: 2020–2021
What I did:
I worked with the Aplastic Anaemia Trust on their MarrowKidz resources project, helping to create numerous written resources for children, young people, families, schools and other professionals about this rare blood condition. I was involved for much of the 18-month project as a writer, editor and proofreader.
Leena O’Hara, programme manager, said:
“I was fortunate to work with some super-talented individuals on the MarrowKidz programme, and Lisa was no exception. Lisa immediately understood how to differentiate the content for a range of audiences and ages. She carefully considered the tone, choice of words and level of detail required, which resulted in beautifully crafted, tailored publications. She focused on writing sensitively and in a reassuring way for parents and carers, and gave careful consideration and respect in her writing for health professionals, who had substantial expertise.”
